This is legal advice prepared by Trading Standards. Relevant to all members across the UK - if used verbatim in England and Wales it has the added benefit of being Assured Advice - so a local Trading Standards Officer cannot take a different view.
Standards are written by the industry, for the industry. Crucial for child safety and mandatory CE marking but also the reference for product performance requirements and tolerances.
The BBSA offers a mediation process for customer complaints.
Guidance and resources for members relating to Covid-19 business requirements.
Pro-froma employment contracts prepared by the BBSA's solicitors for hourly paid, monthly paid and senior staff.
BBSA's responses to government consultations.
Current and detailed guidance on a range of industry topics. Those guidance notes which cover a mandatory requirement are highlighted and there is a search function so you can locate the guidance your require.
Health and safety guidance and templates for all employees. Don't forget there are free H&S training courses too - click training in menu opposite.
Produced by the BBSA (not you!), the only trade association for the industry stating the typical characteristics of the nine most popular product types. The guidance covers all the main characteristics of each product in detail highlighting what is deemed product specific rather than a fault. The best way is to give the relevant product characteristic sheet to your customer before they enter into a contract with you. This is then classed as a “pre-contract condition” which helps prevent the customer complaining and/or claiming ignorance later.
Staff handbook and policies prepared by the BBSA's solicitors.
Template agreement. Remember to read the guidance note (A24) on using a sub-contract fitter too.
Business to consumer (B2C) written in conjunction with Trading Standards. Business to business (B2B) prepared by the BBSA's Solicitors.
Direct access to webinar recordings, watch what you want, when you want.
