Residential Shaped Blinds
Different shapes of glazing need different shaped shading.
Design
Shaped glazing requires shaped blinds and there is a surprisingly wide range of options available in terms of blind styles, materials and operation methods. Shaped blinds are also known as angled blinds.
- Circular, semi-circular or quadrant glazing can be shaded using cellular, pleated, roller or Venetian blinds.
- Triangular glazing can be shaded using cellular, pleated, roller or Venetian blinds.
- Sloped glazing can be shaded using Venetian or vertical blinds.
- Arched windows can be shaded by roller, Venetian or vertical blinds.
- Curved windows can be shaded with vertical blinds.
Operation
Most types of shading can be operated via motorisation. This is especially pertinent if your shaped shading is in a hard-to-reach place.
Window blind safety
The BBSA recommends using blinds which do not contain operating cords or chains, or which have concealed tensioned cords. These products are ‘safe by design’ and are widely available. For more information visit www.makeitsafe.org.uk.
Comfort and energy saving
As shaped glazing involves expert measuring, manufacturing and fitting, the best option would be to use a BBSA member who specialises in this field.
