Sail Blinds

Designed specifically for roof glazing.

Design

Sail blinds are the inside version of shade sails. Initially used to create shade, modern fabrics now allow for designs that reduce heat gain and glare, while maximising natural light levels. They are popular in conservatories and for roof lights.

The number and arrangement of the sails determines both on the functionality and aesthetic. Designs can be subtle, simple and modern or elaborate and sophisticated. Modern design tools allow you to see the impact that these options will have on your space to allow you to make an informed choice.

Operation

Designed for fixed operation, the fabric can be quickly removed for washing. Newer fabrics can provide optimum levels of heat reflection but also high levels of light transmission. Self-tensioning fabrics remove the need for adjusters and can be quickly unhooked and removed for machine washing.

Window blind safety

Sail blinds are usually placed out of reach and do not contain operating cords or chains. These products are ‘safe by design’ and are widely available. For more information visit www.makeitsafe.org.uk.
