Commercial Rooflight Blinds

Design
Cellular, pleated, roller and Venetian blinds can all be used to provide light and heat control for horizontal and sloped roof glazing.
For sloping roof windows the blind is typically held under tension so the blind follows the angle of the window and stays close to glazing. Sometimes this is achieved with tension wires or cords but usually the blind will incorporate side channels down the side of the blind or may be held in a frame that is then fixed to the window.
Horizontal roof glazing can be covered in a similar way.
Due to the range of blind styles which can be used as rooflight blinds, a number of fabrics and colour options are available, as well as branding possibilities.
Operation
These blinds are usually operated with a telescopic rod which clips into a moving rail and allow the blind to be moved into place. Cord operation and crank operation via a detachable winding handle are also available, as is motorisation via 240V AC or 24V DC motors.
Window blind safety
The BBSA recommends using blinds which do not contain operating cords or chains, or which have concealed tensioned cords. These products are ‘safe by design’ and are widely available. For more information visit www.makeitsafe.org.uk.
