Residential Drop-Arm Awnings
Perfect for when there is not enough room above your glazing for a folding arm awning.
Design
This form of awning is ideal for shorter drop windows. The arms normally fall 900mm to a horizontal position, although they can drop down to 1350mm to provide shading when the sun is low in the sky.
There is an extensive range of fabrics available, some of which can have special coatings applied to make them resistant to water, staining and fading. There is also a wide range of patterns from plains to stripes.
Operation
The front profile is fixed to side arms that are lowered from a pivot point. The projection of the awning is therefore the same as the distance from the roller to the pivot point.
They are typically operated with a winding handle linked to a gearbox or via an electric motor.
A spring mechanism, or gas piston device, in the slide draws the arm up, tensions the fabric and provides resistance to buffeting.
Comfort and energy saving
