Design
Thanks to their uncomplicated design and many benefits, Venetians are fast becoming one of the most popular shading options. Made with composite materials such as vinyl and PVC, Venetians are known for their ability to handle lots of wear and tear without warping or breaking.
They are also very resistant to any potential damage from cleaning solutions and liquids making them ideal for use in the bathroom. They also handle heat very well so there is less of a risk of fading or warping from too much sunlight.
Venetians are available with several tape options, colours and shades.
Operation
Venetian blinds can be operated manually using cords and wands but can also be operated using low voltage 24V DC motors for just tilting of the slats or raising and lowering the actual blind. The slats can be tilted so they are anywhere from fully open to fully closed, as well as the blind being raised and lowered.
Window blind safety
The BBSA recommends using blinds which do not contain operating cords or chains, or which have concealed tensioned cords. These products are ‘safe by design’ and are widely available. For more information visit www.makeitsafe.org.uk.
Comfort and energy saving
On top of providing privacy and shading, heat reflective coatings can be added to enhance energy efficiency. The louvres can be tilted to control the amount of light and heat entering the room or can be fully closed for privacy. For more information contact your local BBSA member.
