Conservatory Awnings
Boost the versatility of your conservatory and its surroundings.
Design
Conservatory awnings are mounted parallel to the roof and retract neatly into a headbox fitted to the wall of your home. Mesh fabrics are often chosen as they allow natural light in and also permit a view to the outside. Acrylic fabrics are also available.
The fabric is held under tension by a spring system in the bottom rail and/or side channels of the awning so it is always held above the glazing. The main fixing is to the wall and additional support brackets are fitted onto the glazing bars of the conservatory roof.
Operation
As the awning is fitted out of reach, automation is the only option for operation.
The motor is fully concealed in the awning barrel and controlled with a remote-control. A sun and wind sensor should be installed so the awning can automatically extend in sunny conditions and retract if the wind speed exceeds safe operational limits.
Comfort and energy saving
External shading is more effective at reducing summer heat gains than internal shading in most circumstances. For more information contact your local BBSA member.
