Commercial External Louvre Arrays
Cover several glazing panels with just one shading system.
Design
This type of shading is fitted outside the recess so that several glazing panels can be covered with just one blind. Arms are fitted to the glazing bars and aluminium or wood slats are attached. The slats can be cut to fit shaped glazing and cut-outs can be made to allow windows to open.
Louvre arrays are a practical way of shading large areas of glazing and are often found in office environments, as well as restaurants.
Operation
Moveable louvre arrays can be operated with a gearbox via a detachable winding handle or with motorisation. This system can also be fitted externally to “lean to” conservatories.
The slats can be tilted to control how much light is allowed in, from fully open to fully closed. The slats cannot be retracted but can be removed to make window cleaning easier.
Fixed louvre arrays cannot be moved but can be removed to allow for cleaning.
Comfort and energy saving
External shading is more effective at reducing summer heat gains than internal shading in most circumstances. For more information contact your local BBSA member.
