Design
Dutch canopies are a wonderful opportunity for businesses to increase their street presence and promote their brand. The front panel is an ideal location for signwriting as it is readily visible from ground level.
They come in a myriad of shapes and sizes – either retractable or rigid depending on the measurement and style of any individual requirements. The extrusion can also be formed into a variety of attractive curved shapes.
A vast range of colours and fabrics are available with acrylic fabrics being the most popular as there are more stripe and patterned options available.
PVC fabrics are an option most suitable for fixed blinds as there is a risk of creasing to the cover when retracted, however for commercial applications the PVC is a very practical option. The PVC forms a waterproof cover enabling shops to display their wares under protection from the elements. It is also easily cleaned without damaging the waterproof qualities of the cover.
Operation
A retractable Dutch canopy is generally operated by a cord and pulley system secured to a cleat. On larger blinds there are alternative methods – either a gear and winding handle or electrically operated with motor and remote-control handset.
Comfort and energy saving
Dutch blinds can offer a low-cost solution to solar heat gain by forming a barrier to unwanted solar energy to both the face and the sides of the opening.
