Skylight Shutters

Take control of the light that comes through one of your trickier types of glazing…

Design

Shutters are designed to fit the space, making them a great solution for out of the way windows that are harder to reach. Being installed at angles also makes most types of blinds unsuitable for skylights, so shutters are an obvious alternative.

Choices for skylight shutters are often varied, from lighter neutral shades through to contemporary tones to custom colour options. Skylights are designed to make the most of natural light in a space, so getting shutters to match is important. Different louvre sizes and tilt mechanisms will also affect the appearance of the shutters.

Shutters can be installed either inside or outside the recess, with options also available for installation directly onto the window itself.

Operation

Crafted from versatile materials, including lightweight yet robust hardwood, skylight shutters can be operated via:

  • Louvre operation methods such as silent tilt
  • Automation and remote control options
  • Roof catches and magnets mean the panels stay in place
  • Specially designed tilting poles available from some suppliers

Comfort and energy saving

Skylight shutters help improve a home’s energy saving qualities, providing a layer between the interior and window that provides a degree of thermal insulation. For more information contact your local BBSA member.
